Drayton Manor remains closed following 11-year-old’s death

Drayton Manor Theme Park remains closed today following the death of 11-year-old Evha Jannath on one of its rides.

The Leicester schoolgirl died on Tuesday after falling into the water at the park’s Splash Canyon rapids ride.

In a statement, the Staffordshire attraction said: “The tragic events on Tuesday have shaken the whole Drayton Manor family from the board, through to staff and visitors.

“We would like to extend our thanks to the emergency services for everything they did.

“The park will be closed on Thursday, to allow the Health and Safety Executive to complete their work.

“Our thoughts are with the family and all those who have been affected by Tuesday’s incident.”
