£9m private hospital development completed

A £9m development programme at Spire Parkway private hospital in Solihull has been completed after two years.
The work included the opening of a Specialist Care Centre for cancer treatment, an operating theatre, an endoscopy suite, and a stand-alone pre-operative assessment unit.
It has also seen the total refurbishment of the hospital’s 39 bedrooms, day-care unit, wards and nursing stations.
“It has been a long road and not without its hurdles,” said project manager Steve Goodchild.
“But it has all been worth it. I realise it has required the need for patience from a lot of our staff, but we have now got the hospital that we wanted and that our patients deserve.”
The Specialist Care Centre was officially opened last year by Black Sabbath rock star Tony Iommi, and other developments have become operational as work on them ended.
Hospital director Tony Yates said: “It has been tremendous to see how the hospital has developed and great to see the new elements working on a daily basis, particularly the Specialist Care Centre and the new stand-alone pre-operative assessment unit which is managed by our experienced pre-op assessment nurses.
“There has been a lot of toil and a little trouble along the way, but we now have a hospital that people at Parkway and at Spire as a whole can be really proud of.”
