£30m mixed-use scheme secures new tenant

Veeno

A new £30m retail and leisure scheme in Stratford-upon- Avon has secured a further tenant.

Italian wine café Veeno is the latest name to sign up to Bell Court, which is scheduled to open later in the year.

Veeno is intended to capture Italy’s after-work aperitivo culture and specialises in family produced Sicilian wine alongside authentic snacks including platters of meats, cheese and other appetisers imported from selected Italian producers.

The Stratford café will be Veeno’s 12th store across the UK and the first to open in the West Midlands. Existing cafes are in Manchester, York, Chester, Harrogate and Edinburgh.

The unit is being fitted out this month, with the aim of opening later in the summer.

John Stacey, Asset Management Director at UK & European Investments, said: “The Veeno brand is a perfect complimentary addition to Bell Court as we strive to create an exciting retail and leisure mix and a balance of national and independent brands.

“The relaxed offering will add to the line-up that we have secured and ensure the scheme is an appealing leisure destination throughout the day and into the night.”

Andrea Zecchino, co-founder of Veeno, said: “We’re looking forward to expanding Veeno into the West Midlands and bringing a taste of Italian culture to Stratford-upon-Avon. Bell Court is the perfect market for us and represents a great opportunity to build our brand alongside national bar and restaurant operators.”

Veeno will occupy a prime position on the ground floor of the new Everyman cinema – due to open later this month – and adjacent to two new restaurants; Miller and Carter and Byron. Additionally, diners will be able to enjoy views of the new living wall and Puck sculpture that are now located in Bell Court.

The deal was completed by Time Retail Partners and Nashbond on behalf of UK & European Investments. PHLD acted for Veeno.

Bell Court comprises over 70,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant and leisure space. Over the last 18 months the scheme has been redeveloped with the aim of becoming a top retail and leisure destination at the heart of the Warwickshire town.

Many of the buildings have been remodelled and vast improvements have been made to the public realm, including feature lighting throughout the development, new brighter and more welcoming entrances, high quality landscaping and wooden seating, a living wall and the introduction of public open space for events and outdoor entertainment.
