NEC hosts TV, film and sports stars at latest Collectormania event

Fans of superhero science fiction and fantasy head for the NEC this weekend as a host of big names from TV favourites such as Doctor Who, Star Trek and Game of Thrones line up for this year’s Collectormania event.
A host of big names from popular television programmes and films will be appearing at the event, including Birmingham panto star John Barrowman, who will also be well known to fans of series’ such as Torchwood and Arrow.
Appearing alongside him are actors including: Ming-Na Wen (Agent Melinda May from Marvel’s Agents of Shield), Carlos Valdez (Cisco in The Flash), Robert Patrick (Scorpion, X-Files and The Terminator), Colin Baker (Doctor Who), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore in the original Ghostbusters), Dean Cain (Clark Kent/Superman in Lois and Clark), Marc Warren (Hustle, The Musketeers and Doctor Who), Charisma Carpenter and Julie Benz (both of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and spin-off Angel) plus many more.
Star Wars fans will be able to meet the original Darth Vader, Dave Prowse, while bringing the science fiction saga right up to date, Daniel Naprous, from Rogue One will also be appearing, as will Alistair Petrie.
Famous names from the world of sport will also be appearing, including the man claimed to be the greatest footballer of all time, Pele, who will be joined by former England stars Paul Gascoigne and World Cup winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks – who can also lay claim to making the greatest save of all time, ironically from Pele himself. Banks’ team mates in that famous 1966 victory, Geoff Hurst and Jack Charlton will also be attending.
Local footballing names include Wolves centre forward Steve Bull and new Birmingham City manager, Harry Rednapp.
Champion boxers appearing include British heavyweight Frank Bruno, plus Nigel Benn, Carl Froch and Ricky Hatton, joining them will be snooker star Jimmy – The Whirlwind – White.
The event will also feature an array of themed merchandise, cosplay and a lot more including some well known props from TV series and films.
The event begins at 9am and runs through until 6pm each day.
