St. Modwen has secured planning permission for a new residential and commercial development in Worcestershire.

The Longbridge-based company has been granted permission by Worcester City Council and Malvern Hills District Council for 255 homes and 160,000 sq ft of commercial space at the 44-acre Taylors Lane site in Worcester.

The site comprises approximately 10% of the South Worcestershire ‘urban extension’ allocated by the South Worcestershire Development Plan to boost the local economy and deliver sustainable development up to 2030.

Richard Hickman, planning manager at St. Modwen, said: “We have worked closely with officers at Worcester City Council and Malvern Hills District Council for some time to achieve a high quality, deliverable scheme.”

Jonathan Green, director of asset management at St. Modwen, added: “This scheme will add to the pipeline of commercial development in the region, helping to address demand for space in a key location and will create up to 375 new jobs.

“The addition of jobs, homes and provisions through the South Worcestershire urban extension shows confidence in the region as a location for growth and development.”

Taylors Lane is situated close to Junction 7 of the M5 motorway.
