The M6 has reopened southbound at Junction 13 (Stafford South) after recovery of the vehicles involved in the earlier accident.

The M6 southbound is closed between Junctions 13 (Stafford South) and 12 (Gailey) following a multi-vehicle accident earlier this morning.

The scene is not expected to clear until around midday and there are currently delays of around an hour with queues extending back to J14 at Stafford North.

A diversion route is available from J13 and drivers are being advised to follow the ‘Hollow Circle’ symbol leaving the motorway at J13 taking the A449 southbound towards the A5 junction at Gailey. Then heading eastbound on the A5 which re-joins the M6 at J12.

Highways England has advised motorists to expect delays and allow extra time for their journey.
