7 things to do in the West Midlands this Bank Holiday weekend

West Side Story
The classic love story West Side Story is on stage at New Alexandra Theatre this weekend. The show is part of the theatre’s Stage Experience 2017, which showcases the talents of West Midlands’ young performers in a major production and the support of a professional creative team. The story itself follows the love story of Tony and Maria, which has been inspired by Romeo and Juliet, who meet and fall in love before beginning their tragic fight for happiness whilst being from rival gangs. Camper Calling
Head along to Ragley Hall in Warwickshire this weekend. The line-up for this year’s festival includes Cast, Reef and The Lightening Seeds, as well as music from Clean Cut Kid, Artful Dodger, Space and Josh Kumra. As well as music, there will also be activities for all the family, including a boat race, arts and crafts, a fairground, vehicle displays, lake activities and much more. Find out more here.

Market at Halfpenny Green
Wolverhampton’s Halfpenny Green Airport will be hosting an antique, collectors and flea market on Sunday. The airport in Bobbington will then also be home to a farmers and arts and crafts market on Monday. Both events are set to run from 10am until 4pm, there will be a whole host of stalls selling everything from antiques to cakes. Find out more here.

Outdoor Cinema at the Custard Factory
The Custard Factory in Digbeth will be home to an outdoor cinema this weekend. The venue’s new courtyard will be showing Rocky Horror, The Lion King, Grease, Back To The Future and Batman over the weekend. As well as films, there will also be street food, a licensed bar and cinema snacks. There will also be after parties to head along to, and costume prizes. Find out more here.

Solihull Summer Fest
Head along to Solihull Summer Fest this weekend. Taking place at Tudor Grange Park, the event will have a line-up featuring Peter Andre, Lulu, Gabrielle, Lemar, Toploader, The Pigeon Detectives, Feeder and dance group Diversity. There will also be street food to enjoy, two bars, a prosecco bar and plenty for the kids to get involved with too. Find out more here.

Brassed Off
Brassed Off, a Wolverhampton Grand Theatre production, is taking to the stage at the theatre this weekend. The show, which stars Jeffery Holland, follows Danny’s lifelong ambition to lead the Grimley Colliery Band to a national competition at the Royal Albert Hall. However, the town is thrown into conflict, making their chances of making it there very slim. The production also features a full brass band. Find out more here.

Harry Potter marathon
Harry Potter fans are in for a treat this weekend. The Mockingbird Cinema in Digbeth are hosting a Harry Potter marathon on Saturday and Sunday, with all eight films being shown across the two days.
