Architects has designs on growth after funding deal

A Staffordshire architects firm has undergone significant expansion after investing the a six-figure finance package.

Lordswood Architecture, based in Stafford, has moved into new premises and launched a subsidiary business on the proceeds of the HSBC package.

The firm, which specialises in multi-sector curtain wall and façade designs, has seen a 30% increase in staff numbers and won £3m of new contracts during the year.

In addition to moving into its new premises, Lordswood has been able to take on projects 75% larger than it previously could.

The HSBC loan has supported the business in purchasing materials for each project, helping deliver large-scale contracts without impacting on the business’ cash flow.

The year has also seen the launch of retail brand, Rohaus, which manufactures aluminium windows and doors.

Dee Benning, managing director at Lordswood Architecture, said: “Our business has seen exponential growth over the past year which has been made possible from our ability to offer an enhanced service at our new premises in Stafford.

“HSBC’s support has been crucial to our business strategy, providing expert financial guidance along with strategic funding – not only allowing us to secure our largest client project to date, but also giving us the momentum to create and launch our sister company, Rohaus.”

Stephen Peart, HSBC Area Director for Business Banking in the Black Country and Shropshire, added: “We’re delighted to have been able to support Lordswood Architecture in this next phase of growth and to partner with another business which is manufacturing in the UK. We look forward to seeing what the next 12 months brings.”

HSBC’s Senior Commercial Manager, Stuart Smith, led the deal for Lordswood Architecture and is continuing to provide financial guidance as the company progresses its growth strategy.
