A Birmingham recruiter has made history by becoming the first joint winner of the BBC’s The Apprentice.

Millions of viewers tuned in to the final of the programme last night to see James White go head-to-head against fellow candidate Sarah Lynn.

In a first for the series, host Lord Sugar could not split the two and made their joint winners.

Each receives £250,000 from the entrepreneur to help them develop their business models.

Mr White, 26, runs Right Time Recruitment, an IT recruitment firm, based at Aston Cross Business Village.

It is the first time a candidate from the city has gone on to win the series, despite several close attempts over the years.

Lord Sugar said both candidates were extremely impressive and their business propositions were equally strong.

He said he could not decide between them, so after deliberating long and hard, decided to invest in both of them.
