Birmingham mutual recruits seasoned professional as new chairman

Nathan Moss

Birmingham-based mutual, Wesleyan has appointed an experienced financial services specialist to be its new chairman.

Nathan Moss has more than 35 years’ experience in the wealth management, bank and insurance sectors and succeeds Bryan Jackson, who retired at the end of 2017.

Over the course of his career, Mr Moss has held senior executive roles at HSBC, Scottish Widows, Lloyds TSB and Friends Life. He is also currently a non-executive director at Canada Life Group.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “Wesleyan is a great business – it’s financially strong, has a proud and successful history and is much loved by its customers. I want us to build on these strengths to ensure we remain successful long into the future.

“The financial services landscape, and the economy as a whole, is moving at tremendous speed. We aim to be the best in our chosen customer markets and we’re investing significantly in our business to remain ahead of the competition.

“It’s a truly exciting time for Wesleyan and for me personally to be able to use my experience and expertise to help shape our future strategy.”

Mr Moss said his predecessor had led Wesleyan through some of the most challenging years the industry has ever faced.

“Not only did Wesleyan successfully weather that storm, it continued to grow and flourish while holding true to its core values,” he said.

Mr Jackson, a former Managing Director of Toyota UK, was Wesleyan chairman from 2010 to 2017 and a member of its board since 2007.

The mutual specialises in providing services to professionals including accountants, dentists, doctors, lawyers and teachers.
