Amazon pledges 400 jobs for Warwickshire with new warehouse

Warwickshire has received a 400-job boost with an announcement that online retailer Amazon is to open a major new distribution facility in the county.

The retailer is begun recruiting managers and support staff for the new facility, with the search for warehouse floor workers due to begin soon.

The new unit will link in to Amazon’s existing Midlands operations in Coalville, Daventry and Rugeley.

The retailer currently employs around 24,000 people in the UK and has warehouses in Tilbury and Doncaster.

Plans are in the pipeline to open further centres in Bristol, Bolton and Coventry later this year.

Louise Bennett, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said the announcement was welcome news for the area.

“This highlights, again, what a fantastic location we have here for attracting businesses and jobs in the future because of infrastructure and transport links,” she

“What this illustrates is the need for our region to be even more prepared when it comes to the supply of land for jobs because it’s vital that major inward investors are able to find the space they are looking for when they want to locate here.”
