A foster care agency has a new lease deal to expand into new premises in Bromsgrove.

Children Always First has moved out of rented offices in the town to take 2,600 sq ft at Ladybird Barn, Old Burcot Lane.

Run by directors Julie Elliott and Jan Blazak, the agency arranges fostering for in excess of 65 children at any one time ranging in age from babies through to teenagers.

The new facility caters for administration and training, as well as somewhere children can be supported.

The business employs 50 carers, 19 full-time staff and a specialist therapist.

It has contracts with 14 local authorities – Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Dudley, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Coventry, Solihull, Warwickshire, Stoke, Birmingham, Walsall, Telford & Wrekin and Sandwell.

Mr Blazak said: “We looked at a lot of places but we are extremely happy here. The facilities are excellent – just what we were looking for. And crucially it offered a large car park, one of our particular needs.”

The move should suit the firm’s requirements for some time to come.

“We don’t want to become some massive national organisation where we lose touch with our carers and children. We want to know everyone by name and sight and value them and their contribution properly. We invest time, money and training in our staff and carers and that is what makes us different and better,” added Mr Blazak.

Property agents John Truslove advised on the deal.

Ian Parker, a director of John Truslove, said: “These are fully refurbished offices in a prime location and I am so pleased they have been taken for such vital work.”
