Training company to deliver SME skills programme

A training and education specialist will support SMEs in Coventry and Warwickshire to improve their employees’ skills, and ultimately help to expand the local economy, it has been announced.

PET-XI Training, headquartered in Westwood Business Park, Coventry, has been appointed to deliver the Coventry and Warwickshire Skills 4 Growth programme, which helps support SMEs in the region to access training. The programme is expected to help more than 1,700 employees gain accredited skills.

PET-XI’s courses will concentrate on management and IT, using Microsoft Office Specialist courses that focus on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, general IT and cyber security, and will be run from its headquarters in Westwood Business Park or in meeting rooms of the businesses taking part.

The Skills 4 Growth programme, which is managed by Coventry City Council in partnership with Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership and the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP Growth Hub, is partly funded by the European Social Fund (ESF). Eligible companies, those with up to 250 employees, can expect half the training costs to be funded by the programme.

Simon Fitzgerald, head of funding at PET-Xi Training, said: “We will be bringing our innovative approach to business training to help employees in Coventry and Warwickshire learn new skills which will not only benefit their company but, in general, will help the economy in Coventry and Warwickshire to grow.”
