Collapsed construction giant’s HQ up for sale

Carillion House in Wolverhampton city centre

The Wolverhampton headquarters of collapsed construction giant Carillion have been put up for sale with an asking price of more than £3m.

The city centre building is being offered for freehold sale and is due to be available with vacant possession, although Carillion and its liquidators PwC are currently in occupation. They are continuing to pay rent of £437,000 per year.

Carillion moved 600 staff into the former Staffordshire Building Society headquarters after completely refurbishing the building just two years ago.

Property agents Bulleys and JLL have been jointly appointed to market the six-storey property at 84 Salop Street, which is currently known as Carillion House, on behalf of a private investor.

Noel Muscutt, partner at Bulleys, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire an eye-catching office block in a prominent location that will soon benefit from proximity to the Westside leisure development.”

The 37,000 sq ft office building is next to the £55m Westside leisure development, which will deliver a multiplex cinema, 50,000 sq ft of additional leisure space, 40,000 sq ft of restaurant space, a 100-plus bed hotel and a multi-storey car park.
