Barristers specialising in planning to open Birmingham chambers

Landmark Chambers has announced it will launch its new office in the centre of Birmingham in early July.

The move will see the practice open its offices on Cornwall Street in the heart of the city’s professional services district.

Joint head of chambers, Rupert Warren QC said, “The decision to open in Birmingham is a direct response to feedback from our existing clients based in the city, and the Midlands market generally, who want the ability to instruct specialist London counsel, without needing to travel to the capital for meetings. Ultimately, it is about making us more accessible to our clients.”

Recognised by the independent legal directories as being the market leader for planning and infrastructure work, Landmark has been involved in several of Birmingham’s pivotal regeneration projects including the Library of Birmingham, Midland Metro expansion and the development of new offices at One Snow Hill.

Landmark has also given advice in respect of the city’s most iconic shopping destinations – The Bull Ring, Selfridges and Grand Central.

In addition, Landmark barristers led the promotion of Phase 1 of HS2 through Parliament and continue to advise on the scheme.

Landmark’s chief executive, Paul Newhall, said: “Opening in Birmingham is a really important part of our growth strategy which recognises the importance of key regional cities throughout the UK. Birmingham’s central location and excellent transport links, coupled with a strong legal and professional services base made it the obvious choice to open our first office outside London.”

Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, said: “Landmark’s opening in Birmingham is another critical piece of evidence in the renaissance of the West Midlands. The legal sector has become a hallmark of Birmingham’s strength as a professional services centre and Landmark’s arrival adds a new dimension. We look forward to welcoming the Landmark team here and seeing them thrive as the region goes from strength to strength.”
