Plans submitted to turn investment taps on at Worcester Six

Kohler Miras planned development at Worcester Six

Manufacturing group Kohler Mira is to invest more than £20m in the creation of a distribution, training and office unit in Worcestershire.

Plans for the 158,000 sq ft unit at Worcester Six Business Park have been submitted to Wychavon District Council after a period of consultation. A second phase may add a further 100,000 sq ft.

“This is an exciting opportunity that clearly reflects our continued investment in the UK,” said Liz Hazeldene, managing director of Kohler Mira.

“This purpose-built facility is a result of both an increase in customer demand and the need to meet future business requirements.”

The first phase of the scheme will be delivered by Stoford Developments, with construction scheduled to begin later this year to be completed by April 2019.

Stoford director Gerard Ludlow said: “Worcester Six is beginning to gain real momentum now and this major inward investment in the region by Kohler Mira demonstrates that it is being recognised as a key business location in the Midlands.”

Kohler Mira’s investment is the third significant inward investment into the business park from an American investor.

Charles D’Auncey, director at Harris Lamb, who secured Kohler Mira as well as Kimal and Spire Healthcare, said: “We’re particularly pleased to have attracted the brand to the park as initially, the business was seeking a suitable Gloucestershire premises to site its operation.

“Having seen the superb, central location and high specification offered at Worcester Six, however, Kohler Mira agreed that Worcestershire was the right site for its distribution and training centre.”

Kohler Mira makes kitchen and bathroom products and is the parent company of UK shower brand Mira Showers. It already has operations in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Hull.

It has the ambition of being carbon neutral by 2035 and the new unit will have solar PV on the roof of the building providing a sustainable energy source.
