People: New partners boost law firm’s corporate team; Headlam Group COO steps down; and more

The arrival of two new partners and the promotion of another team member have boosted the corporate team in Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Cheltenham office.

Tim Ward, who has advised many of the region’s best known companies, brings commercial and practical solutions for fast growing entrepreneurial businesses.

Derek Callanan has spent a number of years working in the region, advising a range of clients from entrepreneurs to large scale plc companies. He has vast experience of dealing with all aspects of corporate law with specific interest in the real estate sector, creating joint ventures between construction companies and property developers.

Rachael Reeves, who was promoted to partner in April, has led on recent major deals, including supporting Paragon Banking Group’s acquisition of development finance provider Titlestone Property Finance and its associated loan book and advising the shareholders on the sale of local family-owned business, Micron Group.

Listed floorcoverings distributor Headlam Group has announced that its COO is to stand down from the board after 26 years with the company.

Tony Judge is to step down from the board ahead of leaving the Birmingham-based company in March 2019.

Steve Wilson, Headlam’s chief executive, said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to express our appreciation to Tony for his considerable contribution over the last 26 years, and particularly during the past two years.  The board and our colleagues across the group wish him well for the future.”

New technical sales engineer Rob Wilkes and technical services manager Jayne Shimwell at KUKA’s sub-contract friction welding facility in Halesowen.

Friction welding specialist KUKA Systems UK has signalled its ambition to grow its sub-contract operation with the appointment of a technical sales engineer.

Rob Wilkes has joined the Halesowen-based company with a brief to win new business for KUKA’s in-house services which include joining components for manufacturers in the aerospace, automotive and construction machine sectors.

Wilkes will be responsible for promoting KUKA’s facility, one of the largest in Europe, which offers sub-contract friction welding, induction heat treatment and metallurgical analysis and testing services.

“Rob’s process knowledge and experience in the industry means he’s been able to hit the ground running both in terms of strengthening relationships with existing customers and developing valuable, new contacts,” said Jayne Shimwell, KUKA’s technical services manager.
