New sister venue for Jam House

BIRMINGHAM live music venue The Jam House is to get a new sister site in Cambridgeshire after planning chiefs granted the project approval.

Milton Keynes-based No Saints, parent company of the bar which is part-owned by Jools Holland, is planning to build a new £1m venue in Cambridge’s former Gala Bingo Hall.

Work is due to start next month and be completed by Easter next year. It will cater for up to 690 people and a further 150 in a restaurant, creating around 50 full and part-time jobs.

The first Jam House was launched in the Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in 1999 and was followed in 2005 by a second site in Edinburgh.

It was part of Luminar, which runs the Oceana and Liquid nightclub chains, but was sold in November to No Saints, a new company launched by former Luminar chief executive Steven Thomas and former Fitness First boss Mike Balfour.

Jam House Birmingham general manager John Bunce said: “The Jam House concept is unique and I am sure the new venue will be as successful as our operations in Birmingham and Edinburgh.”
