A5 dual carriageway plans move forward

A busy section of the A5 in Shropshire is “guaranteed” to be turned into a dual carriageway, according to a councillor in charge of roads.
Shropshire Council is due to meet the government next month to discuss the stretch between Oswestry and Montford Bridge.
It is the only section of the major road, which runs between London and Holyhead, to be a single carriageway.
Cllr Steve Davenport said turning into a dual carriageway would bring new jobs to the area.
The cabinet member for highways and transport told BBC News: “The dualling of the A5 between north of Shrewsbury and Oswestry will happen.
“I guarantee it and it will be a massive boost for the two towns and everybody who live and work between them.”
