Lawnmower business a cut above after tripling in size
A Barton-under-Needwood family-run lawnmower business has expanded its capacity by 300% after relocating to a new site with the support of a six-figure funding package.
Country Services, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, sells a range of mowers from professional ‘ride on’ machines to simpler, electrically-propelled mowers. It also repairs lawn mowers for domestic and professional customers across the UK.
After outgrowing its previous site in the village centre on Bell Lane, the business secured a six-figure funding package from Lloyds Bank to build a new headquarters.
The new site is more accessible and three times the size of its previous address with 9,000 sq ft of space including a showroom and state-of-the-art repair workshop.
The move is set to lift Country Services’ annual turnover and create jobs, with the business looking for a new apprentice and mechanic to join its existing seven-strong team over the next few months.
Bob Gadsby, founder and managing director at Country Services, said: “This is a major step for us and is our biggest investment in 25 years. Our new site has been purpose built for us and we’ve already noticed a significant uplift in orders thanks in part to being closer to a main road – meaning customers passing by are more likely to pop in – and also because we’ve got the additional capacity to take on more orders.
“The team at Lloyds Bank has been by our side since we started the business in the 90s. Our relationship manager knew that this had been a goal of ours for several years now and was able to provide the final bit of funding to support the move.”
Mohammed Goni, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, said: “Country Services started with just Bob repairing lawnmowers in a local garage. A quarter of a century later, and the business is now in a 9,000 sq ft warehouse complete with specialist equipment and an impressive customer base to match.”
