70 jobs created as care home launches on former factory site

A nursing care provider has launched its third care home, on a former factory site in Shipston-on-Stour, creating 70 jobs.

Taylor & Taylor, which owns two residential homes in Banbury, secured an eight-figure funding package from NatWest to purchase and transform the site on Tilemans Lane.

Shipston Lodge, which took 18 months to complete, has 70 en-suite bedrooms while Little Mill and Springbank provide 10 two-bedroom apartments available with 24-hour care support.

Family-owned Taylor & Taylor employs more than 130 local people, and the family have plans to increase its portfolio of care homes with a further new build home in 2020.

Charles Taylor, director of Shipston Lodge, said: “Our focus has always been on offering more than just a traditional care home. We provide expert, around-the-clock care but also focus on maintaining community links and the importance of the wellbeing of our residents.

“The funding from NatWest has allowed us to design and build a contemporary care home with modern communal spaces that help make Shipston Lodge feel like a home away from home. We look forward to providing professional care for our residents to ensure they enjoy the best possible quality of life.”

Rebecca Watts, healthcare relationship manager at NatWest, said: “The Taylor family’s reputation of offering excellent care precedes them. With the funding we have provided, they have been able to bring their unique offering to Shipston-on-Stour and we will continue to support Charles and the team as they expand their footprint in the future.”
