Dental practice sold
Genesis Smiles Centre, a Stoke dental practice, has been sold in a deal brokered by Christie & Co.
Established in 2011, the business comprises five surgeries. The practice is a large provider of NHS dentistry and in recent years has also introduced private treatments such as implants.
The previous owner, Dr Shaam Shamsi, has sold up in order to pursue other interests within the industry, including providing mentoring and training courses to young dentists, as well as to focus on his other dental practice.
Dr Shamsi said: “Making the decision to depart from your practice is never an easy one especially when you are blessed with a team that becomes your family. It has been an absolute privilege working with such professional colleagues in my practice, starting with my practice manager and dentists and moving onto the reception and nursing team. They have all been amazing.
“What mattered most was to ensure the new owners would continue with that same ethos’ and mindset to support, develop and promote high quality dentistry. I found just that in Sanjay Shah and his highly efficient team at Dental Care Group.
“Special thanks must go to Jonathan Watson and Steve O’Connor at Christie & Co for their efficiency, coordination and communication throughout the process and beyond with continued advice and support; already colleagues are asking who I would recommend, need I say anymore on both organisations?”
The business has been bought by Dental Care Group, a group historically located in the east of England.

Steve O’Connor, business agent at Christie & Co handled the sale. He said: “Having unsuccessfully tried to sell via another dental agent, it was great to get the opportunity to work with Dr Shamsi on this transaction. Jonathan Watson and myself worked together on the sale, and we are pleased to have secured Dr Shamsi a fantastic result. Whilst the business structure was a little unusual compared to what we typically see, the legal work did not present any major obstacles and the sale was concluded in just three months from agreeing a deal.”
