People: Bank appoints CIO; EdTech firm recruits head of student operations; and more

Al Rayan Bank has appointed a chief information officer (CIO) to join its growing leadership team.

Simon Nash brings 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector with multinational businesses including RBS, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank.

Directly prior to his new role at Al Rayan Bank, he spent a number of years as a consultant providing strategic direction on IT security, change management and programme oversight in the fintech sector. In his recent role at EY, Nash was contracted to work with board and Exco colleagues as a chief information officer and executive consultant.

Based at the bank’s operational headquarters in Birmingham, Nash will lead information technology innovation as well the development and augmentation of information policies and processes for the benefit of Bank’s 90,000+ customers and 300+ employees.

He will be responsible for a team of almost 50 colleagues and will oversee further technology projects scheduled for this year, including the ongoing development of the recently launched mobile banking app.

Oxbridge, a Birmingham-based distance learning college, has appointed Paul Dixon as its new head of student operations.

He joins the college with 20 years’ advisory and consultancy experience, after a 16-year long career with Halifax. Now head of student operation, his aim is to improve collaboration across the college to facilitate the student learning experience. Not just focusing on enrolments but the complete process.

Aptumo,a multi-utility billing software developed by utilities specialists Echo Managed Services, has appointed four new team members as it continues to grow its business.

The Walsall-based billing technology business has taken on four new members of staff this month, as it expands the team behind its innovative and flexible, customer-friendly billing engine.

Following a number of on-going projects and continued interest in the platform, in the UK and Australian water sectors, the business has continued to expand its product team and scale up its workforce.

The billing software business has taken on Hajar El Kharroubi as a Business Analyst. Hajar joins Aptumo from the Echo Managed Services’ RapidXtra team, and joined the wider sister business, Echo in October 2018. Hajar has more than five years’ experience in project management and analysis, in the banking and insurance industries.

Steve Goring returns to work for Echo and its sister company Aptumo after a 10-year break, in which he was a Project Manager and Business Analyst at NFU Mutual. Steve will hold the role of Hybrid Business Analyst/Project Manager.

Aptumo has appointed Adam Wieczorek as a Technical Business Analyst. He has a proven track record of enhancing product usability and experience and has worked in the utilities industry on smart energy projects for a number of years.

Chris Callaghan is an English MA Graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing, he has been appointed as Technical Author at Aptumo. Chris has written technical documents for Jaguar Land Rover and Configit software developers since graduating from the University of Limerick..

Each new appointment brings a wealth of experience in the technology, communications and utilities industries, with some old faces returning to the new part of the business.”
