Gun Quarter industrial site earmarked for regeneration with plans for 25-storey apartment block

Plans have been unveiled to regenerate an industrial site in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter with the construction of a 25-storey apartment block.

Located at 53-68 Princip Street, existing buildings at the site would be demolished to make way for three blocks of six, 11 and 25 storeys for 337 apartments.

The plans include 145 one-bedroom and 192 two-bedroom units, as well as three courtyards and ground floor amenity areas.

The applicant for the scheme is Load Estates, a company owned by Birmingham-based Taylor Grange Developments’ chief executive Rakesh Doal.

The scheme has been designed by Jewellery Quarter-based Glancy Nicholls Architects.

The latest plans follow a similar scheme lodged by Taylor Grange in January 2019 for a 19-storey apartment block to be called Lancaster Gate, containing 295 apartments in two linked blocks of 19 storeys and four to 11 storeys with car parking and amenity space.
