Literary festival cancelled

Stratford Literary Festival has cancelled its Spring Festival due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The organisation said: “In light of the Government’s guidelines issued last night regarding Covid-19, the Stratford Literary Festival has no choice but to cancel the Spring Festival (due to take place from 9 – 17 May).

“The Festival organisers are devastated as ticket sales were stronger than ever this year and they were very excited about delivering the programme to their audiences, but the safety of the team, speakers and audience is paramount.”

People who have bought tickets online will be refunded direct to their payment card as soon as possible but may take a few days.

Organisers said that if people bought tickets from the Box Office at the Play House, they will need to get a refund from there.

The organisers said they are doing their best to re-schedule some of the authors programmed for the festival to appear at the Winter Weekend which is scheduled for 20 – 22 November.
