People: Dains Accountants; WLG Gowling; Nucleus Commercial Finance

Dains Accountants‘ Birmingham office has hired Terri Bruce as a tax director indirect tax while Mark Gurney has been promoted internally to associate director for audit.

Ten other employees have also been promoted to more senior positions in Dains’ audit teams from the start of April and new starters are being recruited for the commercial services, audit, payroll and tax teams.

In the Birmingham audit team, Akshay Patel. Amy Dobson, Jenny Sam, Lucy Whitehouse and Nick Garner are now all audit semi seniors, Rob Jones has been promoted to supervisor, while Josh Hawthorn and Shiva Peters have progressed to assistant manager positions.

In Stoke, Will Owusu has been promoted to a semi senior role while Amy Ellis has become an audit senior.

WLG Gowling has appointed three new partners in its Birmingham office.

Chris Nyland, Navin Prabhakar and Tom Stockley join the partnership on 1 May.

Prabhakar and Stockley are senior lawyers in Gowling WLG’s banking and finance team, while Nyland is a member of the tax practice.

Nucleus Commercial Finance appointed Stuart Smith as business development manager in the Midlands.

Smith joins Nucleus from his most recent role at HSBC, where he was a senior commercial manager, covering the Midlands.

He will be based in Greater Birmingham and will be responsible for expanding Nucleus’ cash flow finance proposition in the Midlands, with a focus on building existing relationships and also forging new partnerships with introducers across the region.
