Host of companies recognised in 2020 Queen’s Awards

A host of West Midlands companies have been given Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

The businesses recognised include a company that champions the use of its Biomaster antimicrobial technology to protect products from bacteria and viruses. Recognised in the innovation category, Stafford-based Addmaster UK, which has now completed a hat-trick of Queen’s Award wins, has again posted record sales from supplying hundreds of clients, including Dulux, Dyson and Marks and Spencer.

The award also recognises the firm’s contribution to eliminating plastic waste and improving public hygiene by creating a range of reusable plastics, including an antimicrobial coffee cup and its work with global retailers on creating the first antimicrobial ‘bag for life’ attracting specific attention.

Paul Morris, Addmaster founder and EO, said: “We are extremely honoured to have had our Biomaster antimicrobial technology recognised with another Queens Award for Enterprise.

“This prestigious accolade recognises our commitment to developing innovative solutions that are ahead of the curve and meet real life needs in healthcare, retail and industry.”

Meanwhile, bathroom supplier HiB has also been honoured in the innovation category.

With a head office in London and its national distribution centre based near Tamworth, HiB has been recognised for developing new technologies which has positioned it at the forefront of bathroom innovation.

HiB managing director, Robert Ginsberg said: “This is an incredible achievement for HiB and is a fitting testament to the hard work, creativity and vision of all our employees across our 30 year history.

“As a company, our vision has always been to be the leading supplier of innovative, creative solutions which make bathrooms beautiful, whilst making a substantial difference to the lives of our people, partners and the world we live in. We thrive on developing new products which present an added ‘wow’ factor, but also feature the very best technology to make their experience all that more exciting.

“It is wonderful that HiB has been recognised as part of the Queens Award for Enterprise and we are looking forward to focusing our energies into developing more innovations in the future.”

Coventry-based aerospace supplier Arrowsmith Engineering, which has pivoted to supply critical parts for ventilators is celebrating after winning a Queen’s Awards for international trade.

Arrowsmith Engineering, which employs 76 people at its Bayton Road factory, secured the accolade after it recorded a 996% increase in export activity over the last three years, supplying precision components to global manufacturers including Rolls-Royce, GKN, ITP and Siemens.

The company’s parts are used in aerospace engines, landing gears and air frames, with recent wins seeing sales rise to £7.6mand investment in the latest CNC robotics paving the way for 10% growth in 2020.

Bosses at the firm believe the Queen’s Award will play an important role in further expansion in Brazil, Germany, Singapore, Spain and the United States.

“This is the highest honour a company can achieve and is a fitting tribute to the strides we have made to become a global aerospace supplier,” said Jason Aldridge, managing director at Arrowsmith Engineering.

“To be able to display the Queen’s Award logo on our letterhead, in marketing material and across all of our communication channels will be a massive boost to our business and will definitely generate new opportunities in overseas markets.”
