140 jobs at risk as auto supplier calls in administrators

Some 140 jobs are at risk at a Birmingham automotive supplier after administrators were called in.

Paul Flint and Mark Firmin have been appointed administrators of Kings Norton-based Paintbox Birmingham, a paint supplier.

The firm will continue to trade while the pair try to find a buyer for the business.

Flint said: “Paintbox Birmingham has invested around £6 million in its state-of-the-art paint lines in recent years and, as a result, delivers high-quality products to its customers in the automotive and other sectors.

“We are hopeful of being able to find a solution which will secure the company’s future.

“We understand this is unsettling news for the employees and will be doing all we can to support them over the weeks ahead.”

On its website, Paintbox says it mainly supplies Tier 1 automotive manufacturers. It employs 300 people and has a further site in Banbury.
