Craft rum inspired by devastating fire wins Tesco listing

A West Midlands-based craft rum is celebrating after winning its first major supermarket contract to supply Tesco stores throughout the region.

Family-owned Burning Barn Rum has secured listings in 74 Tesco stores from early September.

It was set up by Solihull-based Katherine Jenner after a fire destroyed the barn that housed her father-in-law’s toffee apple business in 2015.

In addition to the new regional Tesco listing, the company’s products are also stocked in Harvey Nichols, Harrods and in more than 100 independent retailers across the West Midlands.

Jenner said: “We are delighted that two of our rums are now available in Tesco for local rum fans to enjoy. Burning Barn Rum was born from an incredibly difficult time for our family, but that simply makes every win even more special. My father-in-law’s determination to rebuild his toffee apple business after the devastating blaze, inspired my husband and myself to take the plunge and set up our own rum brand.

“As rum fans ourselves, we wanted to create something completely unique to anything on the market; creating a true craft spirit made with entirely natural ingredients and no added sugar or additives.”
