Manufacturer snaps up new premises

A Warwickshire manufacturing business specialising in the production of niche vehicle panels has purchased new premises.

CKD Shop, which was established in 2015 in Queensland, Australia, has purchased the 8,000 sq ft site at Holywell Business Park in Southam.

The business produces reproduction panels specifically for the Land Rover Series 1 Vehicles, as well as a growing range of spares and accessories.

The company is owned and operated by Alexander Massey and Robert Sprason who met and formed a friendship over their mutual interest in these vehicles which ultimately led to the forming of the company.

Massey said: “To be able to work in such a niche area on a vehicle you greatly admire is a real privilege for us both. The move to the new site will improve efficiency and productivity and will allow us to further grow the business to the next level. The unit will include a mezzanine floor, which will house the office and storage of parts and the ground floor will allow for a small show room and workshop facilities to complete the restoration projects.”

Funding was provided by Barclays.

Richard Huddleston, relationship director at Barclays, said: “CKD Shop have identified a real niche in the market and have steadily grown the business since its’ inception just five years ago. I am delighted to work with Abigail Bailey, our business development manager, and to be able to provide the funding for the new premises which will provide a great platform on which they can grow the business.”

Work is expected to be completed within the next few months.
