People: The latest West Midlands hires

Currie & Brown has announced the appointment of Gary Church as director and head of its Birmingham office.

Church joins Currie & Brown having previously held senior positions with MDA Consulting, Gleeds, Capita Architecture and Willmott Dixon.

He is the founder and chairman of Business for Birmingham, a longstanding members-only networking organisation for property and construction professionals.

With more than 30 years in the construction industry, Church has been employed in both consultancy and contractor organisations and has acquired experience across a range of business sectors.

His focus will be on working collaboratively with new and existing clients to deliver positive project outcomes, with an emphasis on innovation, added value and excellence in service delivery.

IoT service and solutions provider North has welcomed Glen Williams as group CEO.
North was formed from five UK technology, internet of things, networking and safety and security providers, which included Birmingham-based 2020 Vision Systems, brought together via a series of mergers and acquisitions to create a group at the forefront of the smart integrated technologies market.

North is backed by Aliter Capital, a specialist investment firm based in Glasgow and London.
Aliter’s strategy is to develop North as a modern and progressive operator, with a focus on the Internet of Things (IoT), Networking and Connectivity, and Safety and Security.
Williams joins from Allvotec where he was the CEO of the channel-only services provider, having previously led the successful sale of Damovo in 2018.

He brings with him broad experience in global IT and strategic partnerships, having held a number of senior management roles at Dell, Computacenter and Lenovo.

Williams said: “North is at a pivotal time in its evolution.  The bringing together of five market leaders, with the clear strategy of building the UK’s leading IoT, Networking and Connectivity and Safety and Security provider is an exciting challenge and I am looking forward to tapping into the market’s significant growth opportunities.

Kinaxia Logistics has recruited a business development manager for the Midlands region to help drive further expansion for the group.
Stuart Arms has joined Kinaxia to bring new opportunities for the group’s operations across the region, which comprise Panic Transport in Clifton upon Dunsmore, AKW Global Logistics Birmingham and Maidens in Telford.
He previously spent five years at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, starting as a graduate junior account manager and progressing to become a key account manager.
His role at Kinaxia involves helping to win new business for the group’s key product portfolio which includes co-packing, general haulage, warehousing, line haul and e-fulfilment, and to help identify growth opportunities with existing clients.
Kinaxia is a national group comprising 13 freight and logistics businesses across the UK with over 1,600 staff and more than 800 vehicles.
The group, which has remained operational throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, has two million sq ft of warehouse facilities nationwide, offering contract packing,
e-fulfilment, returns management and storage services.
It has seen significant and continued growth over recent years, with annual revenues now approaching £200m.
Arms said: “I’m thrilled to join Kinaxia at a time when the company is making real strides. I look forward to playing my part as we continue to grow and evolve, and hope to make a real difference.”
