Hundreds of jobs to be created as retailer gets green light for £48m distribution hub

Retailer Pets at Home has been given the green light to build a £48m distribution hub in Staffordshire.

Stoford Developments will develop the 52-acre site on the Stafford North Business Park.

Pets at Home will close its Stoke-on-Trent warehouse with all 450 staff given the chance to relocate. In total more than 800 people will work at the Stafford site.

The scheme has been voted through unanimously, and Stoford will build a 670,000 sq ft national storage and distribution centre, including a three-storey office and two double-storey hub offices.
A new roundabout will also be created on the A34 at Redhill, north of Stafford. And there will be 100,000 sq ft of expansion land available if required as part of a second phase.

Stoford planning director Jo Russell told the Stafford Borough Council planning committee: “We have worked with Pets at Home to bring this exciting development to Stafford. We have worked hard to design a scheme which will mitigate the impact of development.

“It will bring a £120m investment into the borough with opportunities for jobs and spin off developments.”

More than 600 car parking spaces will also be created at the scheme.
