People: The latest West Midlands hires

Michael Maguire

Savills has announced the appointment of Michael Maguire as an associate director to its development team in Birmingham.

With more than ten years experience in the West Midlands market, Maguire joins Savills where his focus will primarily be to work with both the public and private sector to unlock and deliver mixed-use and urban regeneration opportunities.

Prior to joining Savills he worked for a local developer and, more recently, at Colliers International in a development consultancy role.

The appointment follows the recent announcement of Andrew Galloway and Sadie Janes being confirmed as joint heads of the Birmingham development team.

Maguire said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Savills and I am looking forward to building on the success that the team has had to date. The challenges presented by the global pandemic has led to a rethink of the way we approach the City Centre and mixed use development which presents some real opportunities, particularly in light of the continued investment in Birmingham City Centre and the wider conurbation. The close collaboration between Andrew’s and Sadie’s well-established teams is something that was a real draw for me and I hope to enhance our profile as a dedicated mixed-use team through offering strategic solutions to our clients.”

Galloway added: “We have a strong presence across the Midlands with offices in Birmingham and Nottingham, with Michael joining us at an exciting time in the team’s evolution. He is a valuable and welcome addition whose experience will only strengthen the team’s existing capabilities and help grow our mixed-use portfolio and city centre offering.”

She said: “At a time when organisations and employees are facing an uncertain future, our professional bodies have never been more important. For organisations, I’m committed to supporting the work the CIPR does to showcase the role of PR as a strategic discipline to harness the power of effective communications. For PR professionals, recognition that the value professionally qualified consultants contribute to an organisation, as well as providing support to boost employability and job prospects is essential.”
