Just Eat rolls out new worker model to Birmingham

Just Eat today has announced the expansion of its new UK worker model for couriers to Birmingham.

Birmingham is the second city in the UK in which Just Eat is offering this new model, following its launch in central London in November.

The move has already created more than 1,000 jobs a month ahead of schedule, with over 250 of these roles created in Birmingham.

The model will be rolled out to further cities over the course of 2021.

All couriers contracted through this model are entitled to hourly pay, minimum/living wage, pension contributions and certain statutory benefits including holiday pay and sick pay.

There is a mixture of full-time, part-time and zero hours workers.

Andrew Kenny, Just Eat UK MD, said: “As the market leader in online food delivery, we believe it is our responsibility to offer couriers a wide range of working options and benefits.

“As part of a successful launch, we’re delighted that over 1,000 jobs have already been created, a month ahead of what was expected. We are now excited to roll the new worker model out to Birmingham, following a positive response from couriers in London and as part of our ambition to grow this further out across the UK, so that more couriers can enjoy the benefits that come associated with a model like this.”
