Listed funeral director appoints new chairman
Dignity, the listed Sutton Coldfield funeral director, has appointed John Castagno as independent non-executive chairman.
Castagno is currently an independent non-executive director of Post Office Insurance and a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
He will initially serve on the Audit, Remuneration and Nomination committees.
Gary Channon, chief executive, said: “I am delighted that John has joined the board of Dignity. His significant financial and commercial experience will be invaluable as the company’s independent non-executive chairman. I very much look forward to working with him in my new role as CEO, both on the future success of the business and further appointments to the board.
“I am also pleased to announce that Dean Moore will remain a director of the company.
“As previously announced, with John’s appointment, I will now stand down as executive chairman to become CEO.”
Castagno added: “Dignity is a business with a long history of supporting its customers at their time of need. The Company has faced a number of challenges in recent years and the team now in place has already taken significant action to position the business to continue to deliver the high level of service that its customers deserve.
