Management take control at city IT firm

Birmingham-based IT solutions company Electronic Business Systems (EBS) has undergone a management buy-out, led by four members of its leadership team.

Sales director Richard Bates, client services director Sandy Robinson, operations director Simon Pritchard and technical director Dan Price have taken over the business from the firm’s previous owner who has left to pursue new ventures.

EBS was founded in 1979, when it was originally established to sell printers and typewriters.

Over the years, it evolved into a full-service IT support provider specialising in hardware, network infrastructure, cloud services, Sage business management (ERP) and Bespoke Solutions.

The business is based in Erdington.

“It was a logical step for us to buy the business,” said Bates. “We’ve each been with EBS for many years, have built great relationships with our customers and we all felt very strongly about keeping our whole team together, which might not have happened if we’d have been bought out by a larger organisation.

“Our previous managing director was proud to be based in Birmingham and had always focused on supporting other local businesses, which is something we’re very keen to continue. It’s been a seamless transition for our clients and staff, and we’re thrilled to be carrying the torch for EBS as it enters the next phase of its development.”

The new owners say that expansion plans are underway, which will include creating five jobs over the next 18 months and investing in sales and marketing to grow a stronger market presence throughout the region.
