Housebuilder seals land deal

A site has been secured for more than 216 homes as part of a joint extension with L&Q Estates and Barratt Homes Northampton on Ashlawn Road in Rugby.

The community, which will form part of the wider 860-home development, is set to provide new opportunities for Warwickshire house hunters with work set to start in early 2022.

The 13.8-acre development has a selection of one to five bedroom homes.

Amer Alkhalil, managing director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “This deal brings us a step closer to delivering much-needed new homes to Rugby.

“The wider community has a number of exciting plans in place and we’ll look forward to commencing the work to provide a fresh opportunity for Warwickshire homebuyers to progress on the property ladder.”

As part of the plans for the wider 92-acre site in Rugby, there is a proposed new primary school, 40% affordable housing and the local area will see an increased investment into local infrastructure and transport links.

The latest phase from Barratt Homes, comprising of 215 properties, is set to provide around 430 jobs for local people.
