Snow clearance firm makes six figure investment

A Worcestershire winter maintenance and snow clearance company has made a significant investment into its fleet and equipment as it prepares to make hundreds of businesses winter-ready.

Cowsden-based AA Salt has completed a £189,000 one-year investment programme as it expands its work to help businesses keep their premises safe by gritting and snow ploughing car parks and access roads in the winter months.

The family-owned company, which employs a team of 30 seasonal workers, has boosted its fleet with the purchase of five gritting vehicles, two further lorries, an additional forklift, and six new snow ploughs. It has also invested in several tablet computers to help its driving staff communicate.

AA Salt’s sales and operations director Ben Tanner, said: “It is forecasted to be a freezing and frosty winter this year and we are only weeks away from the cold weather starting to bite.

“To help us prepare for the months ahead we’ve been working hard to invest further into the business throughout this year. Our new gritters, lorries and snow ploughs will play a huge role in allowing us to support more businesses and private customers across the county.

“We have been working closely already with our customers, such as retail parks, sports stadiums and hospitals, to make sure they are winter ready and they have the correct plans in place to keep areas like car parks and paths clear.

“Our six-figure investment into the fleet and equipment takes our capacity to a whole new level. It is a game-changer as it gives so many more options for us and our customers.”

Tanner added that the company has also managed to stock thousands of tonnes of salt throughout this year to ensure supplies don’t run out.
