HGV driver and warehouse recruiter to meet record demand with £7.5m boost

A specialist recruitment company for HGV drivers and warehouse staff is responding to record-levels of demand after securing a £7.5m finance package.

Recognised by the London Stock Exchange as one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK, Birmingham’s Winner Recruitment works with logistics firms such as Hermes and Eddie Stobart.

The funding from HSBC UK will support the company in its recruitment efforts to find both temporary and permanent HGV drivers and warehouse staff.

Winner Recruitment’s customers, which supply directly to major ecommerce brands, have experienced rapid growth during the pandemic as online shopping sky rocketed, adding to the demand for not only HGV drivers but also warehouse staff.

Vish Jain, owner and managing director of Winner Recruitment, said: “It’s no secret that logistics companies across the UK need more workers to help plug industry-wide staffing shortages. With Black Friday and Christmas just round the corner, it’s crucial to have a steady stream of talent readily available. We’re working with our most high-profile clients to ensure HGV drivers are paid correctly and on time, while ensuring a range of incentives to attract more workers to the industry.

“The funding from HSBC UK will not only help our clients by ensuring we can continue to supply good quality candidates, but the deal also supports our own expansion plans as we aim to establish ourselves as a key player in market.”

Sam Owen, business development director at HSBC UK, added: “We were pleased to be able to support Winner Recruitment at such an important time for the company, as it works hard to help its customers through the current challenges in the supply chain as well as recruiting to prepare for those that lie ahead.”

Russ Fisher, relationship director at HSBC UK, added: “Vish and the team at Winner Recruitment have done a great job at supporting their customers during this challenging period. The funding will allow the company to continue to respond to record-levels of demand, and we look forward to working with the business in the future as they grow.”
