People: The latest West Midlands hires

Law firm VWV has recently strengthened its corporate, commercial and immigration practices by making three appointments in its Birmingham office at Brindleyplace.

The firm has welcomed James Barr, partner, who joins the commercial and IT team, together with  Talitha Degwa who joins the immigration team and Nathan Gray into the corporate team.

A Ludlow legal firm has bolstered its residential property department with the appointment of a new specialist partner.

Liz Hulland has joined Corve Street-based mfg Solicitors and will work across Ludlow and the wider county advising the firm’s clients on a host of property-related issues including freehold and leasehold sales, complex property purchases and re-mortgages.

The property expert, who for the past 20 years has specialised in advising on the sales and purchases of character properties, barn conversions and new builds, will work with partner Richard Connolly and head of department Javed Ahmed.

Connolly said: “Liz is a sought-after and superb property lawyer with strong connections across Ludlow and Shropshire.

“She is a tremendous asset to our team and her drive and determination to do the best for our clients is already shining through. We are delighted to have her onboard.”

JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers has boosted its Birmingham office with the appointments of Blake Hynds to its professional risks team and Lee Gavin to the real estate business.

Hynds joins as client director, bringing 14 years of insurance industry experience to the role. He joins from Wesleyan where he worked for 12 years, eight of which were spent working with law firms providing Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) support and advice on key insurance issues their businesses face in changing markets.

Gavin joins JM Glendinning Real Estate as a client service director. With 20 years of experience working in the insurance industry, Lee has extensive knowledge of the real estate insurance market having worked previously at Gallagher and Pi Property Insurance.
