Deal sees former nightclub change hands as £25m redevelopment planned

Beneficial House

Colico Living has partnered with Topland Group in the acquisition of the former Snobs nightclub with a total investment of £25m.

Located at Paradise Circus, the Beneficial Building will be transformed into a build to rent development with 159 apartments. There will also be 4,000 sq ft of ancillary amenity, a 4,000 sq ft retail until and a 4,500 sq ft gym that is commercially available to let as well as opportunities for advertising.

The former office building had been derelict for the past 13 years, will now be renamed Paradise View.

Full planning permission has been granted with the development expected to be completed in 2023.

Jon Stewart, Director at Colico said: “The site offers potential to complete the regeneration of this prime city centre area, the development of the site is challenging, being over the mainline railway line, but with the help of Network Rail and Birmingham City Council, this derelict site can now be brought back to life.”

Plans to turn the former Snobs nightclub into 180 flats had previously been denied by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee.

The proposal included a change of use from offices to residential together with a planning application for an additional storey of accommodation added to the roof, a retail unit facing Paradise Street and facilities for residents including a roof terrace.
