Planning has been approved for a ‘Pop Up’ Hub consisting of 86 steel containers, each providing affordable flexible space for local commercial and leisure businesses.

Steel Life Group in collaboration with Birmingham City Council will develop new housing, enhance Perry Barr train station, and improved access surrounding the island site at Galey Park, Walsall Road.

The project will be temporary for a period of seven years, and will regenerate the site which would have otherwise have been left dormant.

Phase one will see an initial 14 containers ready prior to the Commonwealth Games, with the additional 72 following the games.

External seating areas, a play area, outdoor terraces, and outdoor screens for community events will be provided to create Perry Barr as a new destination.
