£1.3m granted to cut crime in the West Midlands

More than £1.3m has been granted to the West Midlands to support work to cut crime and improve community safety.

The funding, from West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Simon Foster is part of the Area Community Safety Partnership.

In Wolverhampton, £150,000 has been granted which includes £40,000 that will be used towards tackling violence against women and another £40,000 to reduce exploitation and violence against young people.

Other projects are expected to include tackling modern day slavery, female genital mutilation and forced marriage.

The total Area Community Safety Partnership allocation for the rest of the West Midlands is: Birmingham (£660,000); Coventry (£165,000); Dudley (£135,000); Sandwell (£165,000); Solihull (£90,000) and Walsall (£130,000).
