West Midlands recipients of The Queen’s Birthday Honours revealed

A host of leaders from across the West Midlands have been named in HM The Queen’s Jubilee Birthday Honours List 2022.

Recipients have been awarded for their contributions to public service, education and the region’s economy.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “This historic Platinum Jubilee is not only a celebration of the monarch but of the qualities she possesses.

“The honours she confers this week reflect many of those qualities that have been invaluable from all different walks of life and to communities across the UK.
 
“I pay tribute to all of this year’s winners. Their stories of courage and compassion are an inspiration to us all.”

Receiving a CBE is Sarah Nicholson, the chief executive of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust for her services to leadership in the NHS.

Robert Colbourne, the CEO of Performance Through People has received an OBE for his services to skills and apprenticeships in the region.

He said: “I have never sought such an award, but am nevertheless very proud, especially because of the emotive response from my parents.
 
“But most of all, I was very proud of all my colleagues at PTP who have worked so hard over the years to enhance the provision of training and apprenticeships across the Midlands regions.
 
“I may be picking up the award, but this OBE really is a reflection of teamwork both here at PTP and across the wider BCTG Group.”

Also receiving an OBE is Martin Sutherland, the Chief Executive of the Coventry City of Culture Trust. For services to culture and to the economic and social regeneration of Coventry.

Another recipient at the Coventry City of Culture Trust is Laura McMillan. She is the director of audience strategy and has received an MBE for her services to culture and to the community in Coventry.

Senior anchorman at ITV Robert Warman, has received an MBE for his services to broadcasting and journalism in the West Midlands as he comes to retire.

Also receiving an MBE is Douglas Wright for is services to the economy and to charity in the West Midlands.
