The Birmingham office of Clarke Willmott has advised on the sale of corrosion testing specialist Ascott Analytical Equipment, based in Tamworth, to a major German manufacturer of complementary products.

The law firm acted on behalf of sellers Varium, represented by majority shareholder Chris Gates and the management team.

Ascott specialises in the production and sale of corrosion testing equipment that is used to test equipment in the airline and automotive industry.

The purchaser is the world’s largest manufacturer of environmental testing equipment.

“Growing this company was at the heart of this transaction,” said Clarke Willmott corporate partner, Kim Klahn, who is based at the firm’s Birmingham office.

“All of the sellers will continue to be involved with Ascott Analytical Equipment and work with the new owners to take the company into its next phase of growth.

“There are very exciting times ahead for this company.”

Ascott, which was established 30 years ago and is based on the Lichfield Industrial Estate, exports to 100 countries around the world.

Gates said: “The deal offers huge potential growth that will continue to strengthen our position as a world leader in corrosion testing equipment and create significant opportunities for both brands.”

All worldwide offices and jobs will be retained following the acquisition.
