Luxury hotel expands with treehouse retreats

A North Staffordshire-based hotel has expanded its capacity, adding new treehouses and retreat rooms to its estate.

The Tawny Hotel, which is spread across a 70-acre estate featuring five lakes, has used a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK to add an additional 14 bespoke and eco-friendly guest rooms.

The new Hillside Treehouses and Retreats add to its existing range of shepherds huts, valley treehouses, boathouses and  lookouts.

The Tawny Hotel is a sustainable site, with ground source heat pumps in place and eco-friendly electric off-road buggies available to guests for accessibility around the grounds. The deconstructed hotel is purposely built using light touch foundations, designed specifically to not harm tree roots, meaning that they can be removed at any time, returning the site to its former state.

William Scott-Moncrieff, co-owner and director of Consall Hall, said: “Having only opened the Tawny Hotel in 2021, we are pleased to be able to increase our customer capacity with 15 incredible new treehouse and retreat rooms thanks to HSBC UK. The funding has allowed us to continue to provide responsible and sustainable tourism for our visitors so they can enjoy the surrounding area.”

Joe Riley, relationship manager at HSBC UK, added: “We are delighted to be supporting the family run Tawny Hotel create additional accommodation. The funding will allow the business to capitalise on its recent success by welcoming more guests into the grounds of the historic Consall Hall Estate with a sustainable practice.”
