McCann Birmingham appoints group managing director

McCann Birmingham, one of the largest integrated marketing communications agencies outside of London, has appointed Chris Falconer to the newly created role of group managing director to lead the 250-strong operation.

He joins from McCann Demand in London where, as managing director for the last four years, he has been instrumental in growing the agency from just a handful of employees to a 60-strong team.

Falconer will work with the existing senior management team in Birmingham across the key business units of advertising, PR and social and media – headed up by managing directors Rob Mustoe, Sophie Hewitt and Kevin Murphy respectively – with a focus on driving new business and strengthening integration. He will report to CEO of McCann Central Dean Lovett.

Lovett said: “McCann Birmingham is a real powerhouse, a truly integrated agency with 250 people across our key business units and a broad range of specialist services. Chris’s appointment is an exciting one for us all, and under his leadership, I’ve no doubt that the team will continue to see significant growth.”

Falconer added: “McCann Birmingham is an incredibly successful business – a hugely talented team, with some fantastic clients and awards under its belt. I’m really looking forward to joining them to build on what they have already achieved together.

“Having studied in Birmingham, it’s exciting to be coming back during what is a hugely exciting time for the city. There’s no doubt that there’s a buzz around the region and I can’t wait to get stuck in and be part of the vibrant marketing and business community here.”
