Childcare business sold to market entrant

Creative Flair Childcare in Warwickshire has been sold to a market entrant.

Creative Flair Childcare comprises a pair of day nurseries, one in Coventry and the other in Kenilworth.

Together, they provide care for up to 75 children, from birth to pre-school.

The business was previously owned by Jennifer Faulkner who recently decided to sell to retire from the sector.

Following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co, it has been sold to Madeline Dryden, an experienced operator and first-time nursery buyer who is working to establish her own nursery group in the Warwickshire area.

Faulkner said: “After founding Creative Flair Childcare Ltd six years ago and working hard to see it grow into two successful and busy nurseries, I wanted to ensure that I found a new buyer who would continue to support the nurseries with the same care and attention I had. I decided that I wanted to focus more time on my other businesses within the arts as well as having the opportunity to spend more time at home as a new mum. I genuinely wish Madeline well, and I know she will grow the nurseries and build on their success. I feel confident that I have left the business, the staff team and the families in safe hands for the future.”

Dryden said: “Jennifer had spent years building up two fantastic nurseries with strong staff teams and optimal environments for babies and toddlers. The nurseries were, therefore, immediately of interest to us when we visited them because they fit our criteria exactly. It was a pleasure working with Jennifer and Jassi throughout the process. We are very grateful to Jennifer for all of her ongoing support post-sale. Moving forwards, we will continue to look at other nurseries in the region that fit with our vision of providing the highest level of early years care and education to babies and young children.”

Jassi Sunner, associate director – childcare and education at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “These two day nurseries were extremely attractive during marketing for a range of reasons but the most prominent was certainly the location. The affluence of Kenilworth contrasting with the busy location of the Coventry day nursery meant these two settings complement each other well. After a short marketing campaign, we received a range of offers all exceeding the asking price, with buyers looking to make themselves stand out. We were pleased to find a buyer who was aligned with our client’s timing expectations. It was a pleasure to deal with Jennifer and the buyer, Madeline, as they really got on well and were able to address and deal with any legal questions that arose. We wish Jennifer all the best for the future, especially with the imminent arrival of her baby, and we hope to conclude further deals with Madeline in due course.”

Legal advice for the buyer was provided by Kush Birdi of Birdi & Co Solicitors.
