Contractor named for 1million sq ft facility for German logistics giant
Glencar Construction has been appointed by Baytree Logistics Developments to develop a 1 million sq ft facility pre-let to logistics giant Rhenus at a site in Nuneaton.
The site will comprise of two warehouses – the first warehouse is due to complete by the end of this year and will be 210,000 sq ft. The second, which is due to complete in early 2023, will be 771,000 sq ft.
Upon completion, the development will be known as the ‘Rhenus Campus’ and be the equivalent of 36 football pitches.
The sustainable warehouses will be certified as BREEAM Outstanding once complete and will offer a range of warehousing and distribution services to Rhenus’s customer base. The development will also provide advanced AI and warehouse management systems in order to create flexible solutions and keep control of the supply chain.
Solar panels and air source heat pumps will be installed in the development, with electric car charging points and biodiversity initiatives being added outside. An employee allotment is also set to be created in addition to outdoor seating areas, sports facilities and a walking track.
