Flooring distributor sees sales soar by 100%

Sales have increased by more than 100% in 2022 at floor coverings giant Likewise Group.

At a presentation at the group’s UK headquarters at Birmingham Business Park, chief executive Tony Brewer revealed that Likewise has achieved total sales increases by 108.2% in October and November making the year-to-date increase 103.9%.

The firm, which launched in January 2019 by former Headlam directors Tony Brewer and Andrew Simpson, includes other businesses such as Lewis Abbott, Factory Flooring, H&V Carpets, A&A, Valley Wholesale Carpets, and the recently acquired Delta Carpets.

Brewer said: “The sales development is really encouraging, and we thank all of our management, staff, suppliers and customers for their contribution. The board is conscious of securing an appropriate return on the extensive investment and producing the subsequent profitability in the medium term for the benefit of all stakeholders.

“Notwithstanding challenging market conditions this keeps the group very much on course to achieve its medium-term objectives.”

Likewise has established a distribution infrastructure from its two national distribution hubs in Leeds and Birmingham, plus distribution centres in Glasgow, Newcastle, Newbury, Sudbury and Peckham.

Valley Wholesale Carpets was acquired in January 2022 and operates from two distribution hubs in Erith and Derby.

The distribution hub in Derby is now being extended to 52,000 sq ft providing increased storage, and a carpet cutting machine has been installed to enlarge the cutting capacity within Valley.

In October, the dormant 35,750 sq ft distribution centre in Newport started operations.
